Sharon Birt lives in Somerset and trained as an illustrator in the '80's, she worked under an agent in London where she had commissions for packaging illustration, specializing in watercolour and pencil. Her enthusiasm for oil started quite recently and her own pets, horses dogs and a goat have been models on several occasions!

She has had commissions both for pets and people and these are done on canvas in oil and taken from a good photograph.

Various sizes of canvas can be used and the subject can either be a head study or full body study depending on the photograph supplied. backgrounds can either be plain or detailed and if required the subject can be painted and a seperate background used via another photograph.

The initial drawing of the portrait is paramount and she endevours to replicate the photograph as much as possible as it is important that a true likeness of the animal/person is captured.

She works in as much detail as the photo offers, so its best to email the photos first so that she can see how good they are to work from.

Although horses dogs and farm animals are a firm favourite, special commissions of people, grandparents, children etc, can also be captured in oils for future generations to admire.
